Description

The Préhistomuseum is a one-of-a-kind museum in Europe, nestled in the forest at the foot of the Ramioul cave, just 25 minutes from Liège. Located in the heart of a 74-acre preserved natural estate, it is currently the largest prehistory museum in Europe.

Here, prehistory is not something you look at through a glass case — it is something you experience to the fullest. Through its discovery trail, the museum invites everyone to try the SAPIENS Experience — an immersive, sensory, and fun adventure that reconnects us with our origins.

The SAPIENS Experience features 10 themed activities to explore prehistoric skills and lifestyles first-hand.

Discovering our roots:

  • The labyrinth to understand our evolution.
  • The Ramioul cave and its 40,000 years of history.
  • The permanent exhibition revealing our origins, differences, and common ground through its collections.

Reconnecting with nature:

  • Spearthrowing or archery on 3D targets in the wild.
  • A sensory walk at the farm among plants and animals that tell the story of domestication.
  • Life-size reconstructions of Paleolithic tipis, palisades, houses, and Neolithic dolmens.
  • A sensory barefoot path to reconnect with the natural world.

Awakening talents for the future:

  • Learn prehistoric techniques with passionate archaeologists through various workshops.
  • The archaeological research center, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the profession.

New: a 1,700 m² outdoor escape game! The Préhistomuseum invites you to join the "Sapiens got talent" experience. Take on a formidable AI determined to erase our ancestors' greatest inventions. Armed with teamwork and ingenuity, you have 60 minutes to solve the puzzles and safeguard humanity's treasures. Will you rise to the challenge?
