The tram is an ecological, modern, quick and reliable means of transport. And especially, it allows the city to breathe. Like in many European cities and elsewhere, urban life is finding more space. Pedestrians and cyclists can take better advantage of new redeveloped public spaces. Liège has decided to invest in this means of transport, which is efficient and more respectful of the environment. A great adventure which started in spring 2019!
The tram will cross the whole city, from Coronmeuse to Sclessin. There will be 21 stations on the itinerary, of which 9 connection points with the bus, and 3 with the train. Thanks to this combined transport and the “Park and Ride” car parks, it will be easier to reach the historical and commercial centre of Liège. In the centre, there will be a stop every 450m.
In order to get to this beautiful revitalisation of Liège’s mobility, there are numerous works. Between now and 2022, the date foreseen for the end of the works, the city centre of Liège will be impacted in terms of mobility and landscaping.
3 work zones will have a further impact on Liège's tourism and the accessibility of some tourist attractions. The Guillemins district, the section between Avenue Blonden and the Opera and, of course, the zone leading from the Opera to the Saint-Leonard district, comprising the Cathédrale, Saint-Lambert and Marché squares. The works in these 3 zones should be finished by the end of 2020.
To locate yourself in the city during this period of major works, an internet site dedicated to the tram has been created. You will find, among other things, a page devoted to the ongoing works, week by week. This page is illustrated with a traffic plan to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
Furthermore, a free telephone number has been set up to help you prepare your trips: 0800/88 022.
The entire team of the Tourist Office of Liège is, of course, also available to inform you on this subject: +32 4 221 92 21
